I just wanted to make sure evryone reading this blog out there really understands my main view of people in general. I believe that in the end, over all, and in that one critical situation People will make the choice that benefits them the most. They aren't going to think about others while making those decions, it is all about putting themselves in the best situation possible. Those decions that have been, are, and will be made in life reflect my view on the Human Nature of all human beings. Selfish.
Sincerely,
Thomas Hobbes

Entry 3
"philosophies of leadership are determined by beliefs about human nature."
Basically what this is saying is that someone's perception of human nature directly effects how they would lead. How you believe people will act under your power will determine how you think you will need to lead them. One's philosophy of human nature will determine if they are going to have to lead harshly, if they believe the people they are leading will be bad, or crazy. If one believes that the people they will lead will behave, and will be good people, they can not be so harsh with their rules and way of leading them. I personally feel that human nature is untrustworthy, so you have to really crack down and have complete power over everyone, so that it is impossible for them to do something untrustworthy against you.
"The governed have a responsibility for their governce."
This is saying that since the government gives you safety, you need to take care of responsibilities that you have underneath them. For example the government protects you, and your rights, so you are obligated to pay taxes and be a responsible citizen underneath the government's care. It's sort of like there is a trade off going on, where the government is doing things for you, but you then have to be a good citizen underneath them and support them. I completely agree with this statement because one of my deals with government is that the governed should give up their rights to the leader because the leader will ensure them safety. This also bodes well for the leader because if everyone is giving up their rights to you, then you are going to end up in absolute power.
"Human Nature does not determine our actions; it inclines us towards certain actions."
Human nature does not completely make our decisions for us. It only pushes us to do the right or wrong thing depending on your view of human nature. If someone is good deep down inside, that doesn't mean that they are not going to steal that candy bar they have always wanted from the local candy store. Sometimes people make decions that go against their nature. This usually only occurs when one is desperate or in an unnormal situation. I agree with this in the sense that if someone is bad deep down inside, then they are more likely to make decions that benefit themselves and are "mean" decisions. I also disagree with this state ment because it leaves the idea that people could be good deep down inside, and i believe that is completely false. Everyone is bad deep down inside, no questions asked.

Alternate Ending
I really think that the ending to lord of the Flies was an inaccurate ending to a story that was good at representing my beliefs about human nature. I feel like it just wasn't right that all the sudden they just get rescued and all will live happily ever after. The way the flow to the story was going, I think that Ralph should've been killed by the hunters, because he lost control of power. He did not know that to maintain power, sometimes you have to do things that might hurt some people. He didn't deserve to live because in that live or die situation, you have to take control and do whatever it takes for you to survive. Jack took control and laid down the line because he knew he had to in order to survive.
Lord of the Flies was a conformation of my beliefs because the man who followed my philosophies ended up successful, and in power in a live or die situation.
I believe that the lost boys story is extremely unlikely and the only reason the situation played out the way it did was because there were so many of them. It would have been unrealistic to elect a third party leader to try and govern thousands of helpless boys. It would have been unrealistic to try an elect any type of leader at all in that situation.

Hobbes' Thoughts
Hello, My name is Thomas Hobbes. I am an English philosopher. My main belief is that humans are most concerned about them selves and do not look out for others. Humans have a great lust for power, and they will do almost anything to gain it. Here is a perfect example of this. It was last year on Black Friday, when the store worker at Wall Mart opened the door to open the store and people were outside waiting to get in for the sales. When the worker opened the door to let the shoppers in, The worker was trampled and killed in by the non-caring, sale hungry customers. People in society today are driven by money, and power. Another example of human greed is Bernard Madoff. In total, he scammed his clients for more than $50 billion. He also then pleaded guilty to fraud charges. This again proves how the human nature of people is to just take the easy road out, so that in the end they can end up in the best possible state, not caring who or what they hurt to get there. I can also make a case that the American fast food problem also is directly related to this. It is not really related to the gaining power part of it, but it is certainly related to the Greed side of things. Americans are so greedy, they don't even think about what the fast food is affecting(their health) because they just want it so bad. It is cheep so it is hard to resist, and there is no way americans are going to just not buy fast food because they are thinking about the possible consequences, they don't care about that, all they care about is what they want at that moment of time, and they are going to make sure they get it.
My view on The Social Contract, is that after the third party is given control, eventually, the third party will start to take advantage of their power and abuse it. I think this because I don't see how a person in that situation would pass up the opportunity to take advantage of the situation and gain all power.
